Meet Amanda

The Chasing Simple Content Planner

August 23, 2022

Yesterday, I finished the first rough draft of the book yet to be named book, and it’s still so hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that I’m writing a book. Even more so the fact that I’m going to be actually publishing a book!

But I did it! If you read the last book blog update, you know that my latest plan was to finish by August 12th. But for the two weeks where I was in “write a bit each morning” mode, I had a really hard time motivating myself to sit down and write anything. I’m not totally sure what the problem was, but I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that I just wasn’t sure how to wrap it up. In any writing assignment I’ve ever done, the endings have always been the hardest for me. So, I know that this last chapter will probably need quite a bit of editing, but I sat down Monday morning, reminded myself that it was just a rough draft, and finally got it done.

And then, I had so much adrenaline going that I accidentally took the entire day off and threw off my batch week this week. Oops!

But that’s okay, because I need to work on taking the time to celebrate anyways. So that’s what I did yesterday. I went and got Zaxby’s (my favorite!) for lunch, I took a nap, I read a book, and I just did whatever it was that I wanted.

Because I did it! 40,000 words later and I’ve got an entire manuscript written! Next up: the revision phase!

Love and cat-hair hugs,

Amanda
