If you read my latest book blog post, you’ll know that I didn’t quite finish my rough draft on my retreat, but I came pretty close. When I ended my retreat, I thought I might try and get one last push of writing in on Saturday while Russell was out golfing, but frankly, I just wasn’t feeling it. I was depleted and worn out from all of the work during the week, and I decided there was no reason to push it.

So, my latest plan is to spend a little bit of time each morning writing.

When it comes to the way I set up my days, I’m not technically in office until 9:00 am. My office hours for all of my clients and students are 9:00 am – 4:00 pm EST Monday through Thursday. However, I actually start working by 8:00 most mornings. This gives me an hour each day to work with my head down on whatever is currently my most important or pressing project, and it allows me to focus on my business each day without getting lost in the weeds of serving others. So, I’ll be spending that hour each morning writing this week.

At the end of the retreat, I had two full chapters to write, and a few sections to add to a third. This morning, I knocked out the final sections of that third chapter, and while it’s not done-done (I forsee a lot of editing and additions coming to that chapter), I was able to check it off my list with a satisfactory word count. (I know, I’m hung up on word count. I can’t let it go.) And I also got a start on one of the two final remaining chapters.

I most definitely was not feeling inspired, but I kept telling myself it’s just one hour, and that there are plenty of editing rounds to come. My goal is to finish the entire rough draft by the end of this week so that I can start preparing to move into the next step, and while I do tend to be overly ambitious with my goals, I also know that I was able to knock out most chapters in 2-3 hours last week. So four more hours for less than two chapters seems reasonable, but you never know. I’ll check back in with another post at the end of the week to update!

Love and cat-hair hugs,

Amanda
